Anna Pitchouguina

Born far away in a beautiful city called Niznij Novgorod in the middle of Russia, Anna moved to Poland some years ago to settle down and start formal education. Whilst officially living in Gdynia in the north of Poland, for many years she was based in Lodz, caught between Lodz and Warsaw. At the moment she is trying to adapt to London, where she has recently moved and where the label from now on will be based. At first she studied Economics at the University of Gdansk and then Interior Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk. But, having decided that fashion is the one and only path for her, she now studies Fashion Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Lodz, considered to be the best fashion school in Poland. If that wasn’t enough, Anna also graduated from The International School of Costumography and Fashion Design in Warsaw, where she was awarded a scholarship and her final collection won 4 prizes at the graduation show.

Mainly concentrating on womenswear, Anna is a confident and competent designer within her field. Her designs often focus around the dreamy and romantic image, with an added edge of sweetness. Special attention is given to creating wearable clothing but, since the aesthetic is not yet fully established, there is still scope for some contrasting collections.

At the beginning of 2009, she was also given the opportunity to design underwear collections for Caprice, a lingerie company based in Lodz, where she still works as a freelance designer.

Summer 2009 Anna Pitchouguina moved to New York City, USA to find internship and gain expierence in high fashion and obtain new contacts. She was interning with Derek Lam (www.dereklam.com ) from July to October, where her design and social skills within fashion industry have multiplied. While being in US she also took part in Arts Of Fashion Competition in Philadelphia, where she was selected as one of 50 finalist from more that 400 applicants from all over the world. She also managed to take part in newly created Atlanta Fashion Week and organised her own fashion show in Brooklyn, NY in an artistic venue Monkey Town, where she had a strong collaboration with upcoming music stars "Hank&Cupcakes".

Recently she has been selected by Future in Fashion Foundation as one of 10 most promising young polish fashion designers along with other really talented and ambitious individuals and currently she is preparing new collection in collobaration with world known companies such as Dragoni from Italy, french lace masters Sophie Hallette and leather tannery Bodin-Joyeux who all showed interest in Pitchouguina label. Her "autumn by pitchouguina" collection has just been shown at second edition of Fashion Philosophy Fashion Week Poland on the main schedule, the event that is already considered to be the largest fashion event in Eastern Europe.

In 2010 she also starded collaborating with Operas in Poznan, Warsaw and Brno designing costumes for upcoming ballet shows with a first premiere taking place in October 2010.

In her own words…

I am an optimistic little girl, that somehow during growing up turned fully into 'fashion' and I am not even able to clearly state why. This is my own little world full of awkward situations, random people, weird coincidences, confussions and love stories and I have chosen to be happy in it. I design with my emotions and the creative process is heavily based on my intuition, I guess some inner voice is telling me to cut and sew and each time it feels incredibly personal. I want to thank all, specially my ever supporting family and all companies and producers that have supported me in the beginning of my journey.
